What does migrating your SplashID Safe account to SplashID Pro 9 mean?
Migrating means moving your license and data from SplashID Safe to SplashID Pro 9. Once migrated, you can begin using SplashID Pro 9 applications instead of SplashID Safe across your devices and desktops.

What is the difference between SplashID Safe and SplashID Pro 9?

  • SplashID Safe is the password manager you have been using since 2014.

  • SplashID Pro 9 is the next-generation version that retains most SplashID Safe features while adding enhancements such as built-in record sharing, unlimited fields, multiple notes with a notes-only view, OTP code generation, record archiving, and a recycle bin. It is built on newer, more secure technologies.

Are SplashID Safe and SplashID 8 the same?
Yes. SplashID Safe is also known as SplashID 8, as all SplashID Safe applications are released as version 8 (for example, version 8.3.11).

What happens to my SplashID Safe account after migration?
Your SplashID Safe account will continue to function until the service is eventually shut down. For subscribers, the account may revert to a free account when the license expires.

Can I use both SplashID Safe and SplashID Pro 9?
Yes. Both products can be installed and used independently on the same device. However, data does not sync between them. If you wish to use both, you must manually maintain the records in each.

Is SplashID Safe going away?
Support for SplashID Safe will continue until most users have migrated to SplashID Pro 9. The long-term plan is to phase out SplashID Safe.

Why is SplashID Pro 9 being introduced?
SplashID Safe was built on older technologies that are harder to maintain and expand. SplashID Pro 9 uses modern cloud technologies, stronger encryption, and provides a foundation for advanced features and improved scalability.

Migration

How do I migrate?

  1. Download and install a SplashID Pro 9 application (desktop recommended).

  2. Launch the application.

  3. Sign up for a SplashID Pro 9 account using the same email address as your SplashID Safe account.

  4. Verify your email address and complete the onboarding steps.

  5. Sign in if required. If a SplashID Safe account exists with the same email, you will see a Migrate from SplashID 8 option below your account profile in the navigation panel.

  6. Click the link and verify your SplashID Safe account by entering your master password.

  7. Review the migration summary and proceed.

  8. Wait for the process to complete.

What information will migrate?

  • Cloud sync users: Both license and data will migrate. Make sure you sync your SplashID Safe data before starting.

  • WiFi sync and No sync users: The license will migrate, but data must be manually transferred using the method in the Data Migration section.

How can I get a SplashID Pro 9 license from the App Store or Play Store?

  • Option 1: Purchase a SplashID Pro 9 license from within the app (App Store or Play Store).

  • Option 2: Purchase a license directly from SplashID, listed in the subscription screen.

What happens to my SplashID Safe subscriptions after migration?
Subscriptions purchased via the App Store or Play Store will continue until you cancel them directly in your account. SplashID cannot cancel or refund App Store or Play Store subscriptions.

Does a SplashID Pro 9 license cost more?

  • Pricing is the same as SplashID Safe at the time of writing.

  • Lifetime license upgrades are free until September 30, 2025. After that, a nominal upgrade fee may apply.

Is my SplashID Safe Lifetime license valid for an upgrade?

Will my SplashID Safe data automatically move to SplashID Pro 9?

  2. Complete the migration from inside SplashID Pro 9.

  3. In SplashID Safe, export all records to an SVID file.

  4. In SplashID Pro 9, go to Settings > Import & Export and import the SVID file.

  5. Wait for import to complete. Log out and back in if records do not appear immediately.

What if my import fails?

  • Retry after restarting the app.

  • Ensure the SVID file is not empty.

  • If corruption is suspected, clean up records in SplashID Safe, re-export, and re-import.
