How the 'Snapshot' Setting Works

The Snapshot setting is a built-in security and privacy feature designed to protect the user's sensitive information (like passwords and secure records) from being captured by unauthorized apps.
This feature is included in all native SplashID Pro 9 apps (v9.4.8+, 9.4.8 was released in end of March 2026). Please note is not available on the Web app, because web browsers cannot natively prevent users from taking screenshots.

Guide for Users and Support Team

If a user or support agent needs to take a screenshot, record the screen, or hop on a screen share for troubleshooting, they must enable the Snapshot setting first.


Steps to Take a Screenshot / Share Screen:

  1. Open the 9.4.8+ app - Desktop app or mobile app - and navigate to Settings.
    (Applies to older 8.4.5+ Android mobile app too. Feature may get added to 8.4.x iPhone/iPad too in the future.)
  2. Go to the Security tab/section.
  3. Locate the Snapshot setting and turn it ON (enable it).
  4. Take the required screenshot, record the video, or start the screen-sharing session.
  5. Important: Once troubleshooting or capturing is complete, immediately turn the Snapshot setting OFF (disable it) to restore the privacy protection and keep the Vault secure.
Note: If a user forgets to turn Snapshot ON before sharing their screen or recording, the app window will appear blank, black, or hidden to anyone viewing it.
