Enable or Disable 2-Factor Authentication in SplashID Safe 8.4.x

How to Enable or Disable 2-Factor Authentication in SplashID Safe 8.4.x?

Accessing 2-Factor Authentication Settings

  1. Log in to your SplashID Safe account using the 8.4.0 Web app: https://splashid.com/login

    • Cloud Sync must be enabled for this login to work.

    • For best results, use a desktop web browser (PC, Mac, Linux, or Chromebook). Avoid mobile browsers.

    • Supported browsers include Microsoft Edge, Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Brave, or Safari on Mac. Internet Explorer is not supported.

  2. Go to Account > 2-Factor Authentication.

    • Select Enabled by email to activate.

    • Select Disabled to turn it off.

How 2-Factor Authentication Works

  • Once enabled, a 6-digit code will be sent to your SplashID Safe account email address whenever you log in from a new browser or device (desktop, laptop, tablet, or phone).

  • For the Web app, you can choose how long your login remains trusted before requiring a new code:

    • Save for Now (ask immediately next time)

    • 1 day

    • 1 week

    • 1 month

    • 1 year (maximum)

After entering the correct code, you will not be asked again on the same browser or device until the saved duration expires.

Resetting or Requiring Codes Again

  • For PC/Mac Desktop apps, log out and log back in to require a new 2-factor code.

  • For mobile apps, delete and reinstall the SplashID app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, then log in again.
