How to Set Up and Use WiFi Sync in SplashID Classic?

SplashID Classic WiFi Sync Setup and Usage Guide

WiFi Sync in SplashID Classic is a Pro feature that lets you synchronize your information between devices connected to the same local network. Your data flows only between your devices, ensuring privacy and control.

You can choose between two modes:

  • Local WiFi Sync: Synchronizes data between all devices.

  • No Sync: Each app maintains its own separate data.

Some devices can use WiFi Sync while others run in No Sync mode, depending on your preference.

Setting Up WiFi Sync

  1. Open the SplashID Classic application on your device.

  2. Go to Settings > Sync.

  3. Enable the option Sync with other devices over WiFi.

This sets your device to WiFi Sync mode. If you disable it, the device will operate in No Sync mode.

WiFi Sync Options

When using WiFi Sync, you can adjust additional settings:

  • Make visible to others: Allows other devices to detect this device when online.

  • Auto sync when possible: Automatically participates in sync if unlocked and on the same WiFi network.

  • Device name and port: Displays your device name and the port used for WiFi Sync.

  • Trusted devices list: Devices linked and approved for WiFi Sync.

  • Available devices: Devices on the network that can be added to your trusted list.

You can manually remove devices from your trusted list if you no longer use them.

Performing a Manual WiFi Sync

To manually sync between two devices:

  1. Ensure both devices are connected to the same local network.

  2. Unlock SplashID Classic on both devices.

  3. On one device, go to the My Records screen.

  4. Tap the WiFi Sync button at the top.

  5. Select the other device from the list and wait for the sync to complete.

By default, the sync is two-way, but you can override this to:

  • Sync device A → overwrite device B.

  • Sync device B → overwrite device A.

Adding an Unlisted Device

If your device does not appear in the list:

  1. Unlock SplashID Classic on the unlisted device.

  2. Ensure it’s on the same WiFi network.

  3. Tap + New Device on your primary device.

  4. Select the unlisted device and follow prompts to pair it.

Troubleshooting WiFi Sync

Check the following if sync is not working:

  • You’re signed in with the same SplashID Classic profile on both devices.

  • Both devices are connected to the same WiFi network.

  • All required permissions were accepted when installing the app.

  • No firewalls are blocking SplashID Classic traffic.

Restarting WiFi Services

  • Restart WiFi service: Tap refresh to restart app broadcast and discovery. Wait a few seconds.

  • Refresh WiFi broadcast: Broadcasts the presence of your device so others can detect it.

Maintaining Your Trusted Devices

If you lose or no longer use a trusted device, remove it from your trusted devices list. This prevents old or untrusted devices from syncing your data.
