Is SplashID Safe affected by the Heartbleed vulnerability?

SplashID and Heartbleed

SplashID Safe is not affected by Heartbleed.
Our SplashID Cloud Services run on Microsoft IIS servers, not on Linux or Unix systems. This means we do not use the OpenSSL library that contained the Heartbleed vulnerability.

What You Should Do?

Although SplashID is not affected, the Heartbleed issue impacts many websites and online services that use OpenSSL. Since this vulnerability has existed for some time, we recommend the following:

  • Change passwords on all sensitive sites such as banking, email, and shopping.

  • Before changing your password, check with each website to confirm they have patched the issue and updated their SSL certificates.

  • Use SplashID Safe’s password generator to create strong, unique passwords and store them securely in your SplashID records for easy recall.
