Open Windows File Explorer (Windows 8.x or higher) or Windows Explorer (for older Windows versions).
Browse to Documents\SplashData\
and locate the SplashID folder.
Right-click the folder name, choose Rename, and add .old
to the end so it becomes SplashID.old

Download and install the latest version of SplashID Desktop from:
https://splashid.com/downloads.html
After installing, launch SplashID Desktop again and complete the guided setup.
Depending on where your latest good data exists, use one of the following methods:
From the Cloud
If your records are up-to-date in SplashID Cloud, they will automatically download after setup.
From Android App
In the SplashID Android app, go to Settings > Backup.
Perform a WiFi sync with SplashID Desktop.
Set sync preferences to Handheld overwrites Desktop if needed.
From iPhone/iPad App
In the SplashID iOS/iPadOS app, go to Settings > Send Records.
Email yourself all records as a vID file.
Perform a WiFi sync with SplashID Desktop.
If needed, set sync preferences to Handheld overwrites Desktop.
From Backup vID File
Locate the backup vID file you want to restore.
Double-click the file to import it into SplashID Desktop.
Enter the password that was set when the backup was created.
Auto-backup files can usually be found in:
Documents\SplashData\SplashID.old\Backup\
If renaming the default data folder did not work, your SplashID data may be stored in a different location.
Find your active SplashID data folder.
Rename it to SplashID.old
.
Relaunch SplashID Desktop.
This will reset the app and allow it to create a fresh data directory.
