Enable and Troubleshoot Touch ID/Face ID Login in SplashID Safe iOS/iPadOS

SplashID Safe 8.4.x iOS - Enabling Touch ID/Face ID login and troubleshooting issues with it

Enabling Touch ID or Face ID

In SplashID Safe 8.4.x for iPhone and iPad, you can enable biometric login through the app’s settings:

  • Go to SplashID > Menu > Settings > Touch ID.

  • On devices with Face ID, this setting will appear as Face ID.

  • Please note that iPod touch does not support Touch ID or Face ID.

Before enabling Touch ID/Face ID in SplashID:

  • Ensure Touch ID or Face ID is already set up on your device.

  • At least one fingerprint or facial scan must be stored in System Settings > Touch ID & Passcode or Face ID & Passcode.

  • You must have a valid purchased SplashID 8.x/Pro license to use this feature.

Biometric login is requested when launching the SplashID app after the timeout period (default: 1 minute). The timeout setting can be adjusted in the app’s Settings.

Login Options with Touch ID/Face ID

There are two ways SplashID can handle biometric login:

  1. Store SplashID password in iOS Keychain

    • Allows login with Touch ID/Face ID at any time, even after force-quitting the app or restarting your device.

    • Your password is securely stored in the iOS Keychain.

    • This password item is not synced to other devices or backed up to iTunes or iCloud.

  2. Do not store SplashID password in iOS Keychain

    • Touch ID/Face ID works within normal app use.

    • After a device restart or force quit, you must log in manually using your SplashID password.

Troubleshooting Touch ID or Face ID Issues

If biometric login is not working correctly:

  1. Confirm that your SplashID Safe account has a valid Pro license.

  2. If you are using option 2 (not storing in Keychain), try switching to option 1 (store in Keychain).

  3. If already using option 1, switch to option 2 temporarily, then back to option 1.

  4. Adjust timeout settings in the app. Recommended options are Lock on Exit, 1 minute, or 2 minutes.

For Face ID on iOS/iPadOS 12 or later:

  • Enable Face ID for SplashID first in your device’s System Preferences.

  • Then enable it in the SplashID Safe app.
