Offline mode in SplashID Safe apps

SplashID Safe 8.x - Offline mode

What is Offline Mode?

In SplashID Safe 8.x Desktop and mobile apps, there is an Offline mode option for users of WiFi Sync or No Sync.

  • Offline mode is not available for Cloud Sync, since every operation in Cloud Sync requires access to SplashID servers.

  • In WiFi Sync and No Sync modes, your records are not stored in the Cloud — only account details are stored. However, even in these modes, the apps normally connect to SplashID servers at login to check for license validity, account password changes, email updates, and similar account-level changes.

With Offline mode, SplashID apps can remain completely offline (as long as the license is valid). This ensures the apps do not communicate with SplashID servers while operating offline.

Setting Up Offline Mode

For New Accounts

  1. Set up a SplashID Safe account and purchase a Pro license.

  2. Sign into the SplashID Safe Desktop or mobile app (version 8.1 or later).

  3. Select WiFi Sync or No Sync.

  4. Verify your license in the Desktop or mobile app.

  5. If the license is valid, enable Offline mode:

    • Mac Desktop: Settings → Sync Settings

    • Windows Desktop: Account Settings

    • Android mobile: Settings → Account Info

    • iOS mobile: Main Settings screen

For Existing WiFi or No Sync Users

  • Only steps 4 and 5 are required.

If your license expires in the future, you will need to temporarily disable Offline mode, refresh the license, and then re-enable Offline mode.

Actions That Still Require Server Access

Even with Offline mode enabled, some actions will contact SplashID servers and trigger a warning:

  • Changing the sync mode

  • Changing your account password

  • Changing your account email address

  • Purchasing a license while in unlicensed mode
