Our SplashID Safe 8.4.x Android mobile app needs the user to grant permissions for the app to function properly.
Please note these permissions have been used since the first release of SplashID Safe Android version many years back.
With the updates to Google Play Store policies in the recent past, some of these permissions need to be now explicitly allowed by the user.
SplashID Safe Android app uses these permissions for fulfilling user functionality as described in the sections below.
SplashID does not access the users Contacts, images or any content on the users devices for use by the company for any other purpose.
A representative picture of app permissions for SplashID Safe app is shown below.
Please note that the user's phone/tablet and its adaptation of Android might show this differently, depending on exact mobile device brand, Android OS version used and some other factors.
This permission is used for the following two features:
* While creating an Email Accounts Type record, or a record with an email field we list all the available emails in the user's Contact list for easy addition to the field. The emails added by the user in the records are encrypted and accessible only the user.
Along with the Contacts permission the Phone permission is another crucial permission required to generate the unique local ID.
Apart from this there is no other usage of this permission.
This permission is required for features listed below. Without these the user won't be able to use the feature provided by SplashID.
* Manual backup
* File attachments in records
* Import and export
* Assigning icons to Types and records from the Gallery/Photos
* WiFi Sync
Google Play Store has introduced one more layer of File and Media permissions since Android OS 11.
Following are the steps to grant this permission in Android OS 11 and later devices:
1. On the app launch you will see the permission dialog. Tap on Proceed to permissions button.
2. From the next screen select SplashID app if it shows Not allowed.
3. Select the Allow management of all files option.
Tap Back to return to the SplashID app, or alternatively relaunch the app.
The app requires the Allow management of all files permission to be given for File and media.
Without this option selected the application will not be able to access the user's previously stored offline data.
This permission is required when the user wants to capture an image using the camera for assigning it as an icon of a Type or record.
