SplashID Safe - clearing duplicates using DeDupe + what to do in case DeDupe fails
Using DeDupe
If you are using WiFi Sync or Cloud Sync and notice duplicate or triplicate records in your SplashID Safe apps, the DeDupe function can help remove them.
Where to find DeDupe:
-
Windows PC Desktop app: Main/Application menu (top left).
-
Mac Desktop app: File menu in the menu bar at the very top of your Mac display.
-
iOS mobile app: Go to Settings, at the end of the Edit section.
-
Android mobile app: Go to Settings > Manage section (near the bottom, just below Backup and Restore and above Font).
Please note: DeDupe only works when records match very closely. If the “date modified” is different, duplicates may not be detected.
If DeDupe Fails
If DeDupe does not catch all duplicates, you can clean them manually:
-
Open the SplashID app on your iOS or Android device.
-
Back up your data first (see backup steps here).
-
Go to Settings > Delete Records.
-
Select each duplicate (they are usually grouped together).
-
Tap Delete to remove them.
-
Return to the record list and pull down to sync.
-
Check your Desktop app (and Web app if using Cloud Sync) to confirm the duplicates are gone.
As an alternative, you can perform the same process in the Desktop app, which may be faster than using the mobile app.
Additional Help
If you continue to experience issues with duplicates while using Cloud Sync or WiFi Sync, please contact our tech support here and we will assist you as soon as possible.
