All SplashID Safe 8.4.x apps — Desktop, Mobile, and Web — share the same password. You only need to change the password in one app, and it will sync automatically to the others.
When you quit and relogin (or lock and unlock on mobile), the new password will propagate to all other devices. If you use Cloud Sync, the Web app will also update. On other apps, you may be prompted to first enter your old password, then the new password, to log in successfully.
The Web app behaves differently: it accepts the new password immediately without requiring the old one. This applies even if you are using WiFi Sync or No Sync/Standalone mode.
Ensure all your SplashID Safe apps are fully synced.
Back up your data by exporting both a VID file and an SVID file.
If you are using WiFi Sync or No Sync/Standalone mode:
Make sure Offline mode is disabled on all devices.
You can re-enable Offline mode after the password is changed if needed.
More details: SplashID Safe 8.x – Offline mode.
Do not change your password from the 8.4.0 Web app as it has side effects.
You can use either a pattern password or a text password, but not both.
To use pattern login in the Web app, first transform the pattern to a sequence of digits and then use it as a text password.
The pattern corresponds to digits arranged as:
1 2 3
4 5 6
7 8 9
Example:
First row (dots 1, 2, 3) → 123
S-shape → 321456987
Z-shape → 1235789
U-shape → 1478963
Enter these digit equivalents as a text password in the Web app or anywhere patterns are not supported.
Avoid using patterns with these conditions (they may fail in Web/Desktop apps even if they work in mobile):
Crossing lines.
Repeating dots.
Non-adjacent jumps (e.g., from 1 to 8, or 2 to 9).
