If you are using SplashID Safe Mac Desktop app version 8.4.4 or older, you may see a prompt that a new version is available.
Before updating, make a backup of your data.
If you see the update prompt in the app, click Not Now.
Export your data to vID, SVID, and CSV files. If one of these export formats causes the app to crash, ignore it and proceed with the others.
For detailed instructions on backing up data, see: SplashID Safe 8.x Desktop apps - Backup/Restore options (scroll to the Mac Desktop app section).
This backup is a precaution, in case something goes wrong during the update.
Quit the old SplashID Safe Mac Desktop app.
Download the latest 8.4.5 Mac Desktop app from one of the following links:
Please ignore the “Sign In” and “Register” buttons at the top of the page—just use the download links.
Open the downloaded SplashID Safe DMG Installer. You can find it in your web browser’s Downloads window or your Mac’s Downloads folder.
In the installer window, drag the SplashID Safe app icon on the left onto the Applications folder icon on the right. Do not drag the Applications folder icon anywhere.
If prompted to keep or replace the old app, choose Replace. If you do not see this prompt, the installation may not have worked properly.
Wait for the installation to complete.
Launch the new SplashID Safe app. The first time you open it, you may see a security prompt—click Open to proceed.
Verify that your data is intact and that you can view, edit, and add new records.
Check the app version in the About screen to confirm it is now 8.4.5. You can also use Check for Updates to ensure you are on the latest version.
As an extra safety step, back up your data again using vID, SVID, and CSV export formats. The SVID format (available since version 8.3.2) provides better support for exporting/importing custom icons and allows replacing current data rather than just adding to it.
After updating, eject the installer from your desktop:
Right-click the SplashID Safe 8.4.x Installer icon.
Choose Eject "SplashID Safe".
